Hello - I have not posted before but am grateful for this resource as an artist who studies lace and weaving.
In doing some research, at some point I came across a book about lace making that was (I think) quite old - early 20th century or even late 19th century - I believe it was written by a woman. The preface of the book was an amazing defense of the importance of the needle. She writes that the needle is better (or maybe stronger?) than the sword as it creates and does not destroy and almost issues a charge to lay down arms in favor of the weaving arts. I have searched and searched for this quote and found similar statements but am looking specifically for this preface, and the larger quote. I know this is a long shot but thought that on the slim chance someone here knows this book, it would be worth a try given how much knowledge and experience among the members here. Thank you!
