Such a good thought to plan this a year ahead, Jeri. In my mind we need a single supplier who will (1) supply both midlands, continentals and squares, (2) also supply shuttles, (3) someone who accepts credit cards or PayPal, and (4) who would be willing to post out individual parcels world wide themselves, with everyone ordering direct from that supplier. (5) Those wanting commens would have to commit to an order say 4 or 5 months in advance so that the supplier could know what quantity to make.
Postal charges are now so horrendous for international (and local) postage, that anyone ordering would have to accept the cost involved, but this would be a very special occasion. I would dearly love to have a bobbin (or two) to celebrate 20 years of Arachne. I think I already have most other commems issued. I was the Australian agent for a batch of Arachne commems once; I also organised a similar issue of commems locally recently, and I've learnt a lot of lessons from both experiences. Sending a large parcel of bobbins in bulk to another country often attracts import duty, which complicates things no end. And means an awful lot of work for the organiser re-posting, whereas a supplier is usually set up to post out world-wide. I'm willing to act as an Australian rep in a discussion committee along these lines. Anyone from other countries interested in forming a committee to discuss this, please email me direct at the address below. I am retired, am not in the best of health so don't travel much, and therefore have some time to spare for this, as long as it doesn't interfere with my lacemaking time! Noelene at The Angle.
