INDOORs Textile Day in Maine Just in case there is someone interested in lace within driving distance of the Scarborough Public Library, 48 Gorham Road, Scarborough, Maine (south of Portland, off Route 1): Textile Day is this coming Saturday, March 21, from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Please come out of your Winter retreats to meet Lacemakers of Maine with our Bobbin Lace/Tatting, and other people with Spinning, Weaving, Needle Felting, Rug Hooking, Penny Rug Stitching, Quilting, Kumihimo, Knitting, Crocheting, Embroidery, and much more! Be aware it will be quite crowded. No admission charge. Information at _www.scarboroughlibrary.org_ (http://www.scarboroughlibrary.org) If you are within traveling distance, the Lacemakers of Maine plan to be in the first room on the right. There will be a couple try-me pillows, and an emphasis on contemporary (modern) laces. There is a large 3-dimensional piece that will be on our exhibit table. Our members have been working on this for months under the direction of Tess Parrish. Colorful, and fun. Barbara, Elaine, Ingrid, Tess, and Vi will be demonstrating and teaching. Johanna, in Canada, also participated in the group project. Elaine will have small tatted items to sell. I will tag along with a pile of books from various nations (Czech Rep./Denmark, England, Estonia, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, U.S.) that feature modern laces. If you never get to see such books in a local library in Maine/New Hampshire, come along to meet me and see what is available from specialist book dealers. If you are from a nation not mentioned, and want to suggest a book that fits the criteria - bobbin/modern, please drop me a private note. I'll include, if it is in my library. We hope to meet some of you there. If there is any doubt due to stormy weather as to whether this event will still be held, contact the library directly on Saturday or consult their web site, before leaving home. The library is the sponsor. Jeri Ames in Maine USA Lace and Embroidery Resource Center
