Devon, I ordered three spools directly from DMC, having been told by all my local haberdashers that I'd have to order a box of each colour if they got it for me. As I'm in France, the postage wasn't bad (2.40⬠for 4 spools), I don't know what the cost would be for the States. I'm not up to creating, I used it for a Bedfordshire thistle and a length of Bucks edging, and had no problems with them.
I used the DMC because it was a joint effort, and it had been decided we would use DMC because there's a good range of different threads, readily available in France, but Aurifil 50 (40 wraps as opposed to 42 for the Dmc) also has a lovely range of colours and a silky sheen.
