Hi Helen:

I haven’t seen any discussion on this, but I, too, have been wondering whether
there’s a machine-made Flanders clone. I have a set of small circular coasters
with a Flanders edging. I have seen these sets for sale in antique shops a few
times, and they’re always very reasonable (I think I paid $8-$10 for a set of
four). Looking at the lace, I can’t see any obvious signs that it is
machine-made, but also I don’t think that it could economically be made by hand
and available at that price. The lace is delicate and properly made - i.e., you
don’t see the thread spread out over an overly-enlarged pattern like we often
see with cheap Asian imports. The lace looks good.
