Sorry to hear about such a serious accident, and lingering pain. But I think
you will find that a 4 year gap won't have cost you much. I had about an 8
year gap in lacemaking because of family issues and remembered virtually
everything without difficulty. Although with the more difficult laces I had to
resort to my notes to remember the details.

I think that working something basic like a torchon edging will put you easily
back into the swing of things.

I do hope that the small shoulder movements of lace making will actually
improve the pain situation, over time.
