A universal Lace Day sounds like a Great idea. I spent last Sunday at the National Gallery of Victoria, demonstrating lacemaking with 7 others. They all did a different bobbin lace, on different shaped pillows, and I was the sole Needlelacemaker. I had some filet lace, knotted lace, and tatting with me as well as "Normal" needlelace! We shared a long table between 2 of us, and and we each had a small display board propped up on an easel for displaying some of out lace - in the style we were working on that day.
I was surprised at the number of people who came to see our effort. It was supposed to last just an hour, but went for over 2 hours!! Yes, Jeri, - I was wearing some needlelace - a high neck collar or neckband, and a jabot piece that was in the same ecru thread, - so I "made them match and look like one unit!" Point de Gaze style! The late Gabrielle Pond got me well trained in wearing lace - to Lace Days, anyway!! (Lace is supposed to be kind to old faces!!!!! I need to wear lots!!!!!!!!! :) ) I made 3 small doilies in Knotted Lace from the Elena Dickson book when I started learning that lace. Folded almost in half, and laid one just above the other, the 3 of them make a nice Jabot down the front of a blouse!!!!!!!!
