Thank you Bev & Gina, I was able to find a few more items. Based on the photos & accompanying instructions, it seems like the needle lace that I am referring to--with laid cordonnet etc--was overshadowed by tape based lace during the mid 1800's. I was surprised & delighted to find some great photos of Honiton tape! Needless to say, one could get lost in all the books & articles on the Arizona Digital & Antique Pattern sites.
