These addresses came to me in an event notification from Laurie Waters, who created the tinyurls. The Czech laces at Vamberk reminded me of a friend, to whom I wanted to send a get-well message. She enjoyed it a lot - so an idea for those of you who would like to share something special with an ill friend. http://tinyurl.com/nsgwvry For your first treat, select Muzeum from the menu on the left. Nothing will be in English, but what I think you might enjoy is how lace is displayed in an ideal way - with respect. Note that they are sensible enough not to detract from beautiful white laces with many different color schemes. It is mostly blue accents in a well-lit white setting. Those who attended the OIDFA Congress in Prague will remember this tour stop with a smile.
Gon's weekly pattern posting reminded me of the panels of edgings you will see here. They are large in the exhibit, but you could make small versions and frame them as a set. You could even figure out a way to make one large mat with "windows" and put several together in one large framed presentation, since your edgings are so much smaller. Colored backgrounds with no yellow tones are best for white and ecru laces. http://tinyurl.com/ps2c6mv Second site features a video showing Hana Humlova's work - accompanied by delightful music. The rest of the page is inspiring, too. Lesson: I used to teach embroidery students that presentation is very important. If you have worked something that does not quite reach the level of perfection you expected, present it in a very nice frame or whatever and that will elevate your work. By the same token, if your work is perfection, and you present it sloppily, it will challenge a viewer to compliment you and you will lose interest in it. Never. Ever. Disrespect. Your Personal. It is a simple guipure edging with the possibility for more experienced lacemakers to make it more interesting for them. Have fun with it.
