For those of you who can read languages other than English, there is this
beautiful 269-page book plus separate pattern booklet of 48 pages,
published by Deutscher Kloppelverband e.V.: "Chantilly in der Mode/Mode in
Chantilly", Bought in 1999 at a U.S. price of $110.

When I say beautiful, that is an understatement. Chapters are written by
various lace experts. The lace photos and portraits of people wearing
Chantilly are lovely. The text is most probably just as outstanding. Lots of
footnotes for lace researchers.

Unfortunately, they didn't seem to care that English is the most universal
first/second language used by lacemakers. Perhaps they do not care to
have us admire the work that goes into their books? I could weep for being
unable to do lace research in French, German, Greek, Italian, Spanish, etc.
So frustrating.

Whenever a decision is made to include a second book of patterns or to
insert patterns in a pocket at the back of a lace book, I would like to
suggest there could be a book of the same size - or a few pages of text - that
is
an English translation. There are some of us willing to pay for it.

Something to consider in the future.
