Dear Lorelei, (Some of this is a repeat of my July 27 memo.)

The primary art book size hard cover book is 269 pages in length, divided
into chapters written by a number of lace experts from Germany and France
(Fouriscot), illustrated with photos of lace (edgings, fans, lappets, large
shawls, mantillas, collars, a lace pillow with lace in progress, parasols,
fashion prints) and portraits by famous artists of women - and a few men -
wearing lace from 17th C forward. Ilske's chapter of 18 pages is about
fans. The Redaktion is credited to Elda Gantner and Marianne Stang. Gantner
wrote an 11-page chapter about fashion prints, Stang wrote a 10-page
chapter about Polychrome Chantilly and 6 pages about War Lace.

Do you need a list of all the authors?

Copyright is held by Museo de Bellas Artes de Granada. No ISBN or
publication date is given, but I purchased from Holly Van Sciver in 1999 for
$110.

A separate pattern booklet of 48 pages came with it. It does not appear
that I paid extra for it. This has photos of lace, each accompanied by a
stitch diagram and pricking. Three items are by Ulrike Lohr.

When I wrote privately in 2007 about this book to Achim and in 2004 to
Barbara J., this book was described as "By far, the loveliest book of recent
publication about Chantilly."

Have you read the letters filed under Chantilly in the Arachne archives?

Is this a book about fashion, and the use of Chantilly in fashion, or does
it
have some patterns or instructions? Does it show us what kind of objects
were
made in Chantilly? (lappets, aprons, shawls, stoles or what?)
