Another case where I am coming in after some previous correspondence
skipped getting to me.

If you can buy from a lace book dealer in your country - it is best. You
can do some searches quite easily.

I have spent over $100,000 on lace and embroidery books in my lifetime.
In the case of these particular Italian books: I have bought several for my
research library here in the U.S. from Ruth Kern, and they were in
Italian. The on-line catalog of Nuova S1 does not say there is English
content in
the books.

If the cover is in English, like the Stumpwork one on the first page of
their online catalog, that would be fine. If English is your only language,
I would recommend a book in English to *beginners*. If you are an advanced
needle worker, then the illustrations may be adequate.

The lace book dealers we use will state language in their descriptions.
So - Van Sciver, Fay, Ruth Kern (for embroidery), etc. are my - very
experienced - way to go. I always think of future researchers (with much less
needlework experience than most of us have) who will be using books from my
library. Language could be a deal breaker.

Please remember - our standby suppliers support lace and embroidery guilds
with advertising - which helps to pay for guild bulletins!
