Hi Arachnids

I consider my bobbins as tools of my trade, as they were originally meant to
be. If one gets broken I mend it if I can. If the spangle breaks I respangle.
If the spangle is too heavy I respangle with a lighter spangle, not
necessarily to same beads but ones that are the size and weight I need. The
earlier laces were made using finer thread and as thicker thread was used
heavier spangles were needed. Spangle wire does not last as long as bobbins
and I doubt if many very old bobbins have their original wire and probably not
the original beads. I have decorated bobbins because I enjoy using them and I
have no interest in the resale value of my bobbins. Whatever is done to a
bobbin in it,s lifetime is it,s own story.

Blow the dust, let,s make lace
