A short article in the Palm Beach Post yesterday stated that Boynton Beach, Florida is now a sister city with Rauma. The reporter mentioned several noteworthy facts about Rauma including--[fanfare] Lace Week. "It's an annual event in July with music, dancing, traditional cooking & lace-making. Lace-making in Rauma goes back to the 1740s." According to the reporter, there are 10,000 to 12,000 Finnish residents in Palm Beach County! In an effort to identify some who make lace, I emailed the reporter, mentioning Eeva-Liisa Kortelahti & Pella linen thread. It would be a hoot if lacemakers are found & a lace event is organized!
