An Episcopal Missionary, Bishop Whipple, established several 'lace schools' in Minnesota among both the Dakota and Chippewa Indians. The women who taught in those schools taught the techniques which they knew--not only one specific technique. Perhaps it would be a little more accurate to call them 'Christian' missionaries.
