Thanks to Avital, Annette and Corinne for the information about Burano. I will pass it all on to my friend so she can plan ahead. This list is the best when it comes to getting up to date information. I remember coming back with lots of photos of the buildings on Burano and Murano, and when in the museum I was lucky enough to enter the room at the far end where the lacemakers were working on their needle lace. There was one person who spoke some English so she was able to tell me what they were doing.  Now I have done some needlelace myself, I can appreciate the time it took them to complete one doily between them.I remember hearing Americans talking about the wonderful lace on sale on the stalls, when in fact it was embroidery!! I did tell them to go to the shop with the real stuff. Janice Blair Murrieta, CA, jblace.com
<The museum has lace-related books and postcards. I would say that 99% of the lace sold in the tourist shops that line the route to the museum comes from China. There are probably some shops that do sell Burano lace, but you'd have to Google them, take your own magnifying glass, and a heavy wallet! Enjoy! Burano is such fun to photograph.
