Some were just weekends, some were 4/5 days and classes ran throughout the
whole year. There were other residential establishments but these were run by
local Borough Council educations authorities such as Missenden Abbey, Knuston
Hall, Northampton etc. Ann Collier, Pat Earnshaw, Mo Gibbs, Nenia Lovesey, Pat
Perryman, Yo Pauwels, Susanne Thompson, Lilly Trivett, Doreen Wright, Joan
Buckle, Joan Merrifield, Lia Baumeister, Pamela Nottingham, Bridget Cook,
Berthe Kemp, all taught at The English Lace School which 'was founded in 1979,
in order to provide a centre for the study of lace in this country, to teach
the English laces, supply equipment and to offer many other related aspects of
the Craft - such as Conservation, Study Tours, Commissions for lace and liaison
with other countries and their lace makers.' In 1983 there was a Belgian Tour
from 9th - 22nd May! I went twice to Zele, Belgium where we took classes with
Agnes Stevens and my goodness I recall how cold it w!
as there that winter! There was another tour to Belgium in 1985 from 23rd
September - 5th October.
Quite a list of well known tutors/authors!

Not sure where the Spriggs collection is now but it was at Rougemont House,
Exeter I think the last I heard.

Hope this helps
