Check your local quilt shop or needlework shop first (buy local please), but
if they don't have Aurifil thread in colors or the size that you want, Red
Rock Threads (https://redrockthreads.com/) stocks all sizes (12, 28, 40, 50
and 80). Aurifil is sold in lots of color collections designed by quilters,
and it's sometimes hard to find individual spools of a certain color. You can
order single spools of selected colors from Red Rock. I first ran across the
use of Aurifil for lace in Ulrike Voelcker's "The Grammar of Point Ground"
where she used Aurifl 50 for the samples in the book. More recently, she used
Aurifil 80/2 in a comparison study in her latest book, "Von Herzen" (pg. 3).
I have tried the thread and I like it for both quilting and lacemaking.
