I think a light-ish yellow or light-ish green, a somewhat lighter version of crocus leaves. Not too intense yellow or green, so the background doesn't overwhelm the lace, but not so light either that it blends with the paler part of the periwinkle.
I think either yellow or green would make it look very floral. Are you planning to do a piece of lace with a floral design? The periwinkle is very pretty!
