I made a lappet/scarf from black cotton thread. I don't remember if the pattern was white or blue. However, I had to have good light to work on it, and I found that the thread was stiffer than the same size in white. It was almost impossible to make neat leaf tallies in that thread. Fortunately, people don't look closely at the tallies. They just see the total lace, not the details. When finished, I promised myself that I would not use black thread again. (So what do I do with that full spool of black thread in the drawer?)
