Happy New Year All! I’m sending a link to a newspaper article on lace.
Friends in Erie, PA told me about it & my friend Jean R. found it online. The
reporter interviewed Jean & me in late fall & I moved to Florida December 1st
thinking that the project was DOA. Imagine our surprise! Unbelievable—this
all started in 2017 (!!) when Pam Parker, the editor of Lake Erie Lifestyles
did an article on our home for the real estate section. My pillow was on the
desk in my studio & she was attracted to my beaded Mechlin bobbins on the
pattern. Through my real estate agent, she contacted me about publishing an
article about lace in April 2018, then dropped the project. In the meantime, I
occasionally sent her updates on lace-related events including Lace, Not Lace
at Hunterdon Museum. The newspaper even printed a nice photo of our lace group
& a blurb about the exhibit. In October, she assigned reporter Liz Allen & we
were on again! Jean R. & I had a blast helping Liz make her first lace fish.
We showed her our lace & answered lots of questions. She followed up on
resources we recommended & we are thrilled with her article. It’s hard to
know where, when or how you will make a lace impression on someone. We are
lucky some jazzy bobbins started the conversation! BTW—there is a link to a
PBS segment featuring Allie Marguccio. Enjoy! Sincerely, Susan Hottle, Palm
Beach Gardens, FL
