I know this motif as a woven wheel – and Catherine Barley’s book shows
clear diagrams for Needlelace ones – on page 97 in my edition.
They seem to be a common feature of many sorts of lace.
As The Immortal Bard said “ What’s in a name? A rose by any other name
would small as sweet”!!

This seems to be a “Problem” with lacemaking – so many names for the
same thing – look at “Workers, Walkers, Weavers, Leaders & Runners” to
name just one of them!!
