That looks like a Brazilian lacemaker and her banana leaf stuffed pillow. They follow the Portuguese style of pillows and bobbins, but with local materials. The OP illumination showed more Spanish-style bobbins. I think the artist took a lot of licences to display the lace as something identifiable, so that's why the long horizontal pillow. In any case, the original illustration and the following discussions have been interesting.
