Dear Alice, Your friend has several options to line her jacket. She does need to support the lace in some way. She could use a fashion fabric that she particularly likes and then overlay the lace. If she simply wants to line it, silk organza makes a light-weight lining. If she wants something heavier, silk or rayon lining would be best. I would try samples to see what color looks best. Maybe a skin tone? I would not use bridal tulle because it tends to be scratchy. French seams would also work to enclose the raw edges of the fabric. Hand stitching the lace to the fabric is the best method to attach the lace. I was fortunate to find fine silk thread that matched the lace when I did my granddaughter’s prom dress.
