I learnt to knit continental-style long ago when I played Madame Defarge in
an dramatisation of the French Revolution epic, Tale of Two Cities. She
spent a lot of time knitting in a menacing kind of way, and I wanted it to
be authentic. And yes, it did speed me up. But I never tried it with a
sheath.
