It looks like some kind of stretcher frame for needlework. I happened to
come across this during a discussion in another group. Lots of needles hold
the fabric in place very securely, and it has been the best type of
stretcher frame for needlework that they have found so far. It is especially
used for punch-needle work.

You never know where you'll find a lace pillow!

Thursday I went with our son on his school field trip.  The afternoon part
was to a nature center, and they took us to an 1858 farm house.  Inside, an
old and neglected roller pillow.
