I, too, will be interested in hearing about these books. Full titles and authors would be a help, so I can see if I can get any of them over here.

And as to "educating" various people about bobbin lace - When we came back to Oz from the Denver convention a couple of years ago, I had some wooden bobbins (square continentals) in my carry-on hand luggage and declared them - ticked the "wood" box. The customs man asked whjat wood I had with me - and when I said "Lacemakers Bobbins" he thought for a moment than asked if they were "those spindle things" I said yes and he waved me through with a "those are alright",

So at least he had been sort of educated by someone!!! "Those Spindle Things" was close enough for me, after a 24 hour flight! (Well, 2 hrs from Denver to LA, a hanging around period, then 15 hrs from LA to Melbourne!)
