[lace] "guipure"

I have always understood that guipure meant a lace without a grounding - 
just bars.

The plaited laces - Beds, Maltese, Cluny etc are guipures, and the Bucks 
Point, chantilly, torchon etc are not - as they have a mesh ground of one 
sort or another.
