I must say that the Bobbin Brown hanging bobbin - that went for over $300, I think, looked very similar to my hanging bobbin - and I know that mine is genuine as it has been passed down through the family.

1868 - my Great Grandmother would have been 8 years old. Maybe it was bought for her, or belonged to her mother.

I have a bone bobbin with her name on it and 1864, (badly worn away through use). I wonder if it was to commemorate her starting at Lace School. She would have been 4 years old. What a pity all this history is lost forever. No-one took much notice of those sorts of things until recently - when it is too late!
