I've just started doing needlelace & took a class this week-end. I'm loving it! Inexpensive & portable!!!
For the person asking for instructions, here's a really good 9 lesson tutorial to get you started: http://heritageshoppe.com/heritage/stitches/needlelace.html Under the picture is an option to "download PDF", so you can get a copy onto your pc. I've also done a search for patterns & books & came up with the old DMC Libraries Needle-Made Laces book which is a De Dillmont book. I found a free copy here: http://www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/lace.html#books Scroll about halfway down & look for: "Dillmont, Thérèse de. Needle-Made Laces ( 1st Series), DMC Library, July 1910, 69 pages. Posted February 20, 2007. " Most of the patterns are of the Reticella style, but there's a really curvy, flowing border towards the end. The first .pdf file has the patterns on a black background, but the 2nd .pdf file has them on a light gray background which prints niceley. There are no step-by-step instructions, but once you've learned the basic stitches, these patterns are do-able. lacis.com has several good needlelace books: Needle Made Laces of Retiecella (which I think contains the above free book) Needlelace - Designs & Techniques by Catherine Barley (probably need to know the basics before you do this) Introduction to Needlepoint Lace by Nenia Lovesey Mandy My Blog: http://360.yahoo.com/mandolynday --------------------------------- Get easy, one-click access to your favorites.
