Astute observation Helen.
The theatrical poster can be seen at the home page of the official site for
the film http://www.elizabeththegoldenage.net/
and yes, the lace standing out over the character's right shoulder looks
loopy with picots.
I think it is a small matter. The film isn't a re-enactment, except as a
theatrical interpretation as you say.
The character is wearing chainmail and armor, too.
