Hello and Happy Spring/Easter
(...or any other occasion/season celebrated where you are!)
It does seem that something was missing from the instructions - unless the
lace is made of some material that would resist the dye? It then occurred
to me that an old plastic 'lace' tablecloth might make a good pattern - I
suppose elastic would hold it securely enough although it really would need
to lie flat around the egg. Might be better to pull it snug and hand stitch
to remove any loose folds. It could be done with determination, I think.
:o)
Another idea seen on Martha's programme - is a very pretty lace bowl...
made by soaking the lace (inexpensive machine made) in a stiffening product
and spreading to dry over an upturned bowl. When dry and hardened, remove by
gently prying upwards around the bottom edge. It did look very pretty -
shown filled with coloured E. eggs. However could be useful for any
occasion as a centrepiece on a table.
(She suggested using old hand-made doilies we have tucked away into
drawers, no longer used for their original purpose - although very pretty,
would the goo come out completely I wonder?)
