There are 10 books in the series, that I know of and have read.
Crewel World -the first, this is the name of her needlework shop
Framed In Lace
A stitch in Time
Unraveled Sleeve
A Murderous Yarn
Hanging By A Thread
Cut work
Crewel Yule
Embroidered truths
Sins and Needles

In addition to Ruth's comments, each book contains a needlework pattern,
usually directly connected to the 'subject needlework in the story.
While the later books might refer back to people or incidents of the previous
ones (very little of this), it is not really necessary to read them in order.
The 'village' residents are carried throughout all the books.

I have enjoyed them all.

I just finished reading "Framed in Lace" by Monica
Ferris. There are two ISBNs associated with this book: 0425171493 and
9780425171493. The book was published in 1999 by Berkley Mass Market in the
U.S.A. I understand that this book is the second in a series that features
  needlework.

Here's the story line, without giving away too much. When a large boat that
was retired and sunk 50 years ago is raised for restoration, a skeleton is
discovered below the deck. Nearby is a handkerchief trimmed with a
lace-like fabric. The mysterious lace is identified as bobbin lace and
investigation begins to find out who made bobbin lace in the area at that
time. In helping to solve this crime, the heroine and owner of the local
stitchery and needlcraft store learns about bobbin lace. There are many
clues to be considered, but could the maker of the bobbin lace be the
  murderer!

The book is a quick and easy read and it is unusual to read about bobbin
  lace in this context.

Disclaimer: I have no financial or other personal interest in bringing this
  book to your attention.
