Hello Michele

For that type of join I don't rely on knots alone - I always darn the ends in.

Make the sewings/knots whilst the lace is still on the pillow as you are less likely to pull the lace out of shap whilst it's still pinned down, then cut the bobbins off leaving the ends of thread long enough to use with a sewing needle. One at a time thread them into the needle and darn/weave them in following the paths of threads in the lace and after a few 'stitches' cut off close. Try to take one from each pair forwards into the beginning of the lace and the others backwards into the end of the lace.

It also pays to think about this when you are starting a project so as to start close to an area of cloth stitch or near gimps as they are the least conspicuous places for the doubled up threads.

Greetings Fellow Spiders,
I have been out of circulation for quite a while due to a strong attack of life. I'm am back though and finally getting the dust off of my pillows *blush*. I have done quite a few bookmarks and now I am getting back into the groove of mats and ornaments. That brings me to my question... I am probably being a chicken, but I don't trust my knots. What is the best way to tie off the sewings/connections when completing a circled piece? I do a sturdy square knot, but is there a better more confidence inspiring way?
thanks for any and all advice here :)
