Dear Martina LUTON MUSEUM, one of the best lace collections near London, currently has an exhibition of work by Czech lacemaker Anna Halikova, and will soon open a display of fans - some but not all lace. Luton is easily reached from London by train, the museum a short walk from the station. The address is: Wardown Park Museum Old Bedford Road Luton LU2 7HA Tel: 01 582 547 968 www.lutonculture.com
CHESHAM LACE DAY will be held on 14 March (10am to 4pm so you'll have time to get back for the all-important concert). I'll be there and I'm sure you would be made most welcome. email me privately and I'll send you the organiser's contact details. Chesham is also a short train ride from London. The textile galleries at the VICTORIA AND ALBERT museum are very disappointing at the moment. Though the study frames for lace are still there, and there is some good early lace on display in the British Galleries, on the whole I should give it a miss this time. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip. Bridget, in Pinner, North London. - To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [email protected].
