Hello Beth

A couple of years ago, I gave a talk and demo on Bobbin Lace to a group of
ladies - I had suggested that they bring any old pieces of lace for everyone
to see. At the end of the afternoon, after several had shown their pieces,
one of the ladies spoke up and said she was totally embarrassed and upset.
She pulled a tablecloth out of a plastic bag; she said, "My mother brought
this back with her from Brussels 50 years ago. I had no idea of it's value!
The last time I used it was for my son's wedding luncheon 17 years ago.
Sadly, it was put away without laundering." It was a beautiful Battenburg,
tapelace trimmed cloth but had numerous tea and food stains! I took it home
with me to consider the repairs she wanted done on it. However, the first
thing I did was soak it in a bath of OxyClean overnight. Most of the stains
were gone by morning - only one faint tea stain left!

I hope this will be of help to you.
