Hi everyone and a special hello to those who knew our Gerda, I just had sad news today from a dear friend of Gerda McLean, who, for many years was a member of the Textile Arts Guild of Richmond and the Vancouver Lace Guild. Gerda, who would have been 92 on the 17th of July, passed very peacefully yesterday morning after a very nice visit with her family.
There will be a Celebration of Life on her birthday, July 17th at the Unitarian Church, 49th and Oak in Vancouver, BC from 2 - 5 pm. When I get more details I will pass them on. I visited often with Gerda at the Textile Arts Guild meetings. She only gave up coming to meetings a few months ago. Although she couldn't make bobbin lace any more she never stopped crocheting baby blankets and other items for the underprivileged which she brought to Show n'tell every meeting. These were all donated through TAGOR. Gerda loved discussing all the lace news and I will really miss our conversations.
