I'm fascinated to hear of the popularity of tatting in wartime Atlanta. One of those shafts of light which helps to bring history to life. I'm sure some Southern Belles would have had antique (18th century) lace inherited from their grandmothers, but if you wanted something modern you had to do it yourself.
