That was a very interesting video! I had seen tallies done by holding three bobbins in place and essentially weaving one back and forth. I taught myself how to do leaf tallies by following the written directions in the "Complete DMC Encyclopedia of Needlework". At first I was quite confused why my tallies ended up looking like normal braids! I work with palms up and have figured out a way to make tallies like that as well. It would have been much easier to do them your way! I have to say though, that I didn't know that tallies were supposed to be hard until I showed a sample edging to my lace teacher. She was surprised I had figured out tallies and told me that they are considered hard. Once I started thinking of them as being hard, they suddenly became hard to do!
