Lace activities seemed to be available very quickly after Christmas,
here. A brief meeting of the Christchurch Lacemakers' committee
organised the year's calendar, including the monthly work days and
evenings, and the special workshops.
Yesterday I attended the first work day for the year - it was a first
for me, as I usually work on Wednesdays. The work day was very well
attended, and that was probably because Pat and David Hallam from
"Roseground" were our guests. Everyone was delighted to see the new
threads (at least, new to us!) that they have available, and to buy
from their stocks of bobbins. It was great to meet Pat and David
again, and we look forward to future visits!
I have been working, or at least have just re-started working after
the Christmas break, on a "Kant" pattern for a handky edging. It was
nearly half-completed on Tuesday afternoon, but by yesterday morning
was at least 5cm shorter, after I had discovered a mistake and
'Penelope stitched' back to correct it!! Never mind, it's growing
again now... There will be a local (Darfield) work day on the 30th,
and I hope to have the edging complete - or nearly complete - by then.
Happy New Year to all international lacemaking friends!
