I have a travel pillow that I made in a weekend class in the late 80's with
Margaret Tainton, in Victoria (had a fun weekend making it too). I like it,
although having shorter legs means that my lap is a little short for the
pillow base and flap, but not uncomfortably so. I have a piece on it that I
started when I made the pillow, and it's not inspiring me like it used to,
so I'll switch out the pillow/project with another roller I made and work
other yardage as I need.

It wasn't the best pillow for my beds lace class in the UK, but it was the
only one I could reasonably get there from Australia, in my hand luggage. I
had the spare roller in my case, and my pillow in my carry on and made lace
on the plane (it was the perfect size on the tray table) and in the airport.
I also had it on a trip to and from the USA with a NZ week long layover, and
also our 4 Corners road trip with the kids (and yes - I made lace sitting on
the 4 corners geodesic marker, so made lace in the 4 states at the same time
:-) ). I wouldn't really think of doing it now with security.

It find it works great for narrower edgings that don't require much more
than about 25 pairs and work in a straightforward manner, rather than the
more curvaceous manner of beds.

I made one for someone one time, and added the refinement of putting lids on
the 2 side pouches to keep things more neatly stowed.

I don't work on it as much as it used to - not because I don't like the
pillow, but because I don't have much of a need at the moment with 3 big
projects on the go.

One day I'll finish that supper cloth edging. I think I've done 2 corners
so far and 1 complete side.

Cheers,
Helen in Duvall, WA
