Hi Sallie and Alix,

I think that the best suggestion I can make is that you take a *very* simple Torchon pattern and attempt to do it in wire. From that experiment, I think you'll see that there is a great deal of difference in the way one handles a fiber in lacemaking and the way one handles a wire. If you are not already proficient at making wire lace, it may be that you will do your would-be student a favor if you help her find another person to teach you both!

I had a class in wire lace from someone who does it very well. There were many considerations I would not have thought about, had she not worked these things out on her own beforehand. I have not chosen to continue to make wire lace, and am still a rank beginner, so could not help you at all. Sorry!

I have a new student, who wants to start with wire lace. She did the basic
stiches in cotton and she is learning fast.

But I newer tried to work with wire, so can you help me:

Are there books, internet sites......

And how will be the difference betwen working thread and wire.

My student already ordered special wire bobins silver and gold wire, but I
told her to buy some cheaper wire to try out first..
