Many suggestions re tying /winding thread onto bobbins and have not seen any
about the way l attach the thread.
l hold the bobbin in my left hand and make a clovehitch onto the bobbin
with the thread in my right hand to start the thread on the bobbin and wind
the the thread over the top of the bobbin away from me, l then change the
bobbin to my right hand and make a clovehitch with the thread in my left
hand and this holds the clovehitch from comming undone as it is against the
wound bobbin..
If l have for some reason had to tie the thread to the bobbin to remove l
holh the thread tought and snip or cut the thread very close to the knot and
the knot will come of without having to get the points of the siccors under
the thread so damaging the neck of the bobbin.
l never use tapes sticky or otherwise as all the tapes and other types of
plastic materials leach fumes that could be harmful.to textiles
l hopr this may be helpful to others.

I have been following the discussion on tying or not tying thread to the
bobbins in order to avoid losing bobbins when they run down; the problem
being when this happens when taking the pillow somewhere. I got fed up of
that happening so now I fold the bottom of my cover cloth over the bobbins
and fold the ends in and pin them down, thus making a little pocket to
hold
the bobbins in their own little home. I haven't lost a bobbin since!!
