My mother always called old lace, "bone lace" and I always assumed that it was because it was off white, the color of bone. But I can imagine someone assuming it was because bones were used in making the lace and might have been used for bobbins or pins. and thus the old wives "tail" ;-) Louise in Central Virginia - - Alex wrote <Just my thoughts, I was hoping that some of the Arachne members would have come across something.
