There was an article, I think, a few years back in PieceWork about the US and Belgium link in WW1. It might've been about the flour sack embroideries, thinking about it, but I have a vague notion there was something about lace from that period in a PieceWork. I could be wrong.
There's one in the July/August 1999 issue, starting on p24 that's about Flemish lace from the WWI it would appear from the online index.
