An interesting challenge.Why have a whole pillow of magnetic sheet. You only need it under the bobbins. As the bobbins themselves never come into contact with the pricking, your pillow should be in 2 joined sections: One for the pricking of material (foam ?) to take the pins and the other magnetized to hold metal on bobbins. I agree with Jane that the neck should have knobs to hold thread off surface, but body of bobbin could be metal or with a metal section. .
