Greetings,Spiders! I have spent most of this cold rainy day on the computer, setting up a service for Arachne on Flickr. This is not cast in stone, but I have subscribed for a short term in order for us to see if it will work for us.
I have spent some time writing out specific instructions for getting your pictures off of Smile and on to Flickr. As you remember, Webshots photos have a proprietary file type which means we can't download our own pictures from that service. Smile transferred all of our photos, but lost all of our annotations. It would be a massive undertaking for any one person to restore all of our Webshots pictures onto Flickr, but if each person does her/his own pictures, s/he can make whatever notes are needed as the pictures are uploaded to Flickr. You will want to go to Flickr and see what has been done. Like "Smile", all of the pictures are listed in the order in which they were uploaded. However, a tremendous advantage is that after you have uploaded your pictures, you can then make a "set" of them, and you will see when you go to the photo stream that there are already at least two sets there. I created one with my own pictures, and then created another with all of the Arachne Christmas Ornament pictures (there were about 270 of them!). When I uploaded from the batch of pictures I had on Arachne, I decided that there did not need to be so many, and so my set is small. The address is www.flikr.com. You will need to sign in with the username arachne2003, and the password is Honiton (upper-case H!). If you have trouble with "arachne2003", use "[email protected]".
