I have worked a piece of lace from this book but I have several problems and I am sure someone on the list will be able to help me.
I copied the pattern and put adhesive film over but no card stock underneath the pricking - seeing there are no pin holes I assumed it to be prepared like Withof!!! Is card underneath necessary? There is so little tension on the work that I do not think card is necessary. In the turning stitch the working pair is thrown out and the first passive becomes the weaver. On the return row, does that weaver from the previous row need to be twisted before it comes into the work again? I did have problems with the pin position as I did not understand it correctly to start off. The pins were too close together in the beginning until I made a gauge 3mm wide to use between pins. I used Madeira Tanne 80 because we do not have the recommended thread available in South Africa. The Tanne is a bit thinner but the lace looks reasonable except for the cloth stitch trail which looks like spaghetti!! No matter how little tension I put on those threads, they cling together and now I wonder if it is not due to the thinner thread?
