I think this actually is a signal of a deeper want for general customization
in the whole system. I've been playing with Laconica at home and work, and
there are lots of little things that I wish I could tweak sometime (OpenID
on/off, char limit, skins!). I'm all for starting a customizability front if
anyone's interested. I'd like to try to mirror MediaWiki's hook and
LocalSettings concepts if possible - from my work on it, that system has
completely opened up a world of customization while staying 100% vanilla.
