Hi all,
There's been some discussion on the Identi.ca Laconica group with
regards to bangtag syntax for groups infringing on the space of
tags[0]. A couple people have suggested changing the way groups work
so that rather than linking them inline, they are linked to in the
same manner as "in reply to" information is linked to, underneath a
notice in the Web UI[1]. I'm not particularly fond of this idea, but I
do sometimes find myself trying to come up with excuses to repeat a
word in a notice so that I can use a !group and a #tag with it.
In the spirit of trying to avoid only discussing problems without also
offering some solutions, I coded a quick solution that addresses my
desire not to artificially repeat words into a new patch against the
0.8.x branch that melds bangtags with hashtags to create
"banghashes"[2], if you will. I'd love feedback on the patch[3], both
for the idea and for bettering my understanding of the Laconica code.
If nothing else, at least I got to dive a little deeper into the
Notice class. :)
Thanks,
